The Suede Craftsman evolved from our classic original Craftsman boot which was and still is made with silky smooth veal calf or yearling dress leather. Initial demand for the brown suede finished uppers in this style came from London where R.M.Williams Pty Ltd opened its first retail store there in July 1989. Young and not so young professional men in that city adopt a style of dress during the summer months which could almost be described as a uniform – a brass buttoned navy blazer, sky blue shirt, club tie, camel/fawn slacks and brown suede boots.
